Discussion Paper on Self-Assessed Clearances (SAC) Cost Recovery
In case you missed our news. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry is working on a cost recovery system for biosecurity clearance of low-value goods. A Discussion Paper outlines key details:
- The charge starts on 1st July 2024, administered by DAFF.
- It applies to low-value imports (valued at AUD $1,000 or less) subject to self-assessed declarations (SACs).
- Customers’ feedback is welcome until 30th November 2023, at SACcostrecovery@aff.gov.au.

Management Team Visit to Southeast Asia Operations
A delegation from Freight Mart International, under the leadership of Craig Rourke (General Manager) and accompanied by Mathew Young (Customer Relationship Manager) and Sarah Langford (Customs Manager), embarked on a visit to our regional offices in Malaysia. The primary objectives of this visit included knowledge transfer, skill development, and the strengthening of relationships. Both Sarah and Mathew proactively engaged with their respective teams, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience. Our steadfast commitment to investing in our teams reflects our understanding that such investments ultimately yield significant benefits for our valued customers.
Following our visit to Malaysia, Craig extended his journey to Thailand to meet with our Bangkok team. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our teams in Malaysia and Thailand for their warm and gracious reception.
3rd MGLN Conference 2023 Dubai, UAE
The 3rd MGLN Conference 2023, hosted in the dynamic city of Dubai, UAE, from December 19 to 22, brought together leaders in the logistics industry, with the notable presence of Freight Mart International Group’s directors: Craig Rourke, Anlly Li, and regional director Kevin Chua. These directors served as representatives for the company’s branches in Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand, showcasing the organization’s global reach and commitment to international cooperation.

This platform facilitated valuable exchanges of insights and experiences, reinforcing the importance of global collaboration in the logistics sector. Exploring Dubai: Beyond the MGLN Conference
In addition to our participation in the MGLN Conference, the Freight Mart International team seized the opportunity to explore the incredible city of Dubai during a day tour. Our journey was nothing short of extraordinary, beginning with an exhilarating Desert Safari Tour that allowed us to immerse ourselves in the stunning sand dunes and witness the splendid desert landscapes. The chance to see and interact with camels, symbols of the region’s rich heritage, added a special touch to our desert adventure.
As we embarked on a sightseeing tour of Dubai, we were treated to a esmerising blend of modernity and tradition. The sight of the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, was a breathtaking experience that highlighted the city’s architectural wonders.
In the evenings, Dubai truly came to life with its vibrant and dazzling nightlife. We savored the delicious cuisine, soaked in the city’s entertainment options, and reveled in the unique atmosphere that Dubai offered after dark.
Dubai, for the Freight Mart International team, was not only a hub for business at the conference but also a place where we created cherished memories through exploration and adventure.

We’re delighted to present the highlights of our unforgettable team-building event on Koh Larn Island, held on 23rd October 2023, coinciding with Chulalongkorn Memorial Day. The entire Thailand team, including our Managing Director, Billy Reader, and his wife, Pippah, gathered for a day of unity and growth, creating enduring memories and strengthening connections.
Nestled in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Larn’s breathtaking beauty provided the perfect backdrop for our activities. As a unified team, we embraced collaborative challenges that not only tested our skills but also deepened our bonds. The day was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and shared achievements, reaffirming our dedication to a dynamic work environment fueled by strong connections and mutual support.
