Thailand and Malaysia planning a High-speed railway to connect four ASEAN countries and China
According to media reports in Vientiane (the capital of Laos), Malaysia has agreed with Thailand’s idea of setting up a joint working panel to discuss a network linking China, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
Thai officials are visiting Vientiane from 30th August 2022 to 1st September 2022 to discuss the extension of the Laos-China Railway to Thailand. The negotiations were focused on a rail link from Vientiane to Thailand’s Nong Khai province.
The opportunities for cost-effective logistics and transport services offered by the railway’s extension and the dry port will benefit the importers and exporters between ASEAN and China. Railways on the Thailand-Laos-China route will generate revenue of 650 million baht in 2022, according to the local logistics management.
